my tune, untitled13000. been bashin em out lately.. even managed to impress myself a few times :)
my best musical discovery of 2011 is drum n bass duo, fracture & neptune. i’m totally digging their style.. proper badass experimental drum n bass n the only other people i’ve come across wiv the same vibes is ed rush n optical! super sick and very inspirational.
so i reckon this has gotta be my tune of the year, or the otherside clissold. can’t explain my love for both tunes.. still waiting on my student loan :/ but as soon as i get it the first thing i buy will be this tune on vinyl
i’ve been pretty busy lately - sorting my life out and still managing to squeeze in some fun! unfortunately my memory’s a little fuzzy, but all i can say is 2011 has been a good year for dancing! theres been loads of quality nights n free parties. Recently saw dave clarke play at timbuk2. seeing him mix was fantastical. Really inspiring and a completely different experience to the my first time at glade festival. timbuk2 is a small venue but purrrrfect for techno nights. it was rammed full of stompin peoples and he demonstrated why his the don by mixing proper banging techno and electro.
Also saw mungos hi fi and soom t again which was mental! big ups to bambi legs for that. and nice one to neverlution n jah loko soundsystems for the dub club nights at the dirty duck.

me and boyfriend dusted off some of his synths n made some noiiiiise! good way to spend a day, lots of bouncing around and making uber cool sounds. plus i also learnt a fair bit. .. now we just need record it!
beautiful sunset over Totterdown in Bristol, taken with me new camera :)
Since my dslr camera broke, I’ve just been making use of my old slr n lomo cameras. Although film is awesome, i’m skint n it’s expensive plus i don’t have access to a dark room so that takes all the fun out of it. But this week I finally got a new camera! It’s nothing fancy but i can’t explain how marvellous it is to have digital photography back in my life.
had the pleasure of going to some wicked nights. the highlights (aka what i can remember) have been: a wicked Agro night at lakota, twas good to see phace and misanthrop and dom & roland - monkey knife fight at blue mountain; hadn’t been to one of their nights for ages but it was killer! luke vibert did an awesome set especially at the end when he rinsed out some jungle! proper badman.. the bug featuring flowdan and horsepower productions were both heavy as fuck.. there was. so. much. bassssss, twas awesome. Bambi legs was cool as well, can’t remember if i actually saw Jazzsteppa but smokelife played anyways.
apart from that, life is super cooool.
life in Bristol is pretty sweet at the mo. Been making butt loads of music. Music production used to be something I’d give a go when I couldn’t find anything else to do now it’s pretty much the first thing I do when I wake up. Totally time consuming but awesome. Also been on the sewing flex lately. Refining my dressmaking skills and searching for beautiful n unusual fabrics. As well as sorting out my portfolio for uni interviews and drawing my fingers off in the process.
me and smiffy’s techno tune.. pretty banging. think we’re gonna do a another version of it one day, floor 35. hehe
so the discovery of all this new neurofunk is awesome!
although i was well into my ska, ska punk n indie by the time i was 14 i was introduced to electronic music through all the squats parties we’d end up at around london. Then I moved to bristol.. i was 16 and on a mission to find new music n rave me lil socks off proper! all my older mates from back home were tellin me bristol was the home of drum n bass so i figured i’d be able to find all the cool shit but i discovered something else first.. dubstep! it was 2005 n all over bristol n awesome… so yeah, got sidetracked by dubstep for 6 years haha but back on the hunt for old drum n bass and tekstep!
anyway, i’m totally in love with this phace tune at the moment.. amazing!
my boyfriends just got neosignal 006 which is absolutely mental and everyone’s on the hunt for more awesomeness…
been enjoying the sunshine and sorting myself out before the next festival! sunrise was super cool, a lovely chilled out festival, and got to see macka b and the roots ragga band. bouncing around with the crew dem whilst watching an amazing man and band completely tear up chai wallahs was awesome!
